Settled on a concave micropattern, cells adopt the convex envelope stretching out over the non adhesive surface.
The geometric distribution of adhesive contacts between cell and substrate induces the reproducible polarization of the cell machinery.
Cell position, cell shape, cell polarity and internal cell organization are standardized.

The normalization of cell shape and behaviour is the first step to robust and reliable quantification. A heat map of the distribution of cell components can be obtained by stacking images and averaging the results over a statistically relevant number of individual cells. Learn more
